Knob holes, the seam that opened over the furring on a block wall, the ceiling ring after the storm and the condo wall after the unit above leaked, patched and textured from our office on South Andrews Avenue. Priced in writing on the call.

Kaminskiy Care and Repair patches, finishes and texture matches drywall in Fort Lauderdale homes and condos from an office downtown on South Andrews Avenue: the doorknob hole, the seam that opened along a furring strip on a block wall in Victoria Park, the brown ring on a ceiling a week after a tropical storm pushed rain under the roof edge, the damp wall in a Las Olas condo after the shower pan upstairs failed, the anchor holes a tenant left behind. New board where the old is soft, every seam taped, three coats, the knockdown or orange peel matched, primer. Water damage waits for the source to be fixed and the board to meter dry. The price is in writing on the call, and most patches are finished in one visit.
Eight repairs, one crew, priced in writing before we start.
Fort Lauderdale walls are concrete block with furring strips and drywall, so a hole in an exterior wall has three quarters of an inch behind it, not a stud bay, and the patch has to be backed to the furring to hold. Interior walls are wood or steel studs. Humidity drives through the block all summer and shows as a soft, stained band at the base of a wall; a storm that gets under the roof shows as a ceiling ring a week later. We fix the board, match the texture, and tell you which of the three you have.

Kaminskiy-certified pros finish the job with a workmanship warranty.
Every drywall repair carries our one-year workmanship warranty, in writing, and is done by a Kaminskiy-certified, background checked technician.
Block houses do not settle the way frame houses do, so the cracks here are different: the seam over a furring strip, the corner where a 1950s addition met the original block, the tape at the ceiling line where a roof truss moves with the heat. The stains are water, three ways: a storm driving rain under the roof edge or through a window frame, the air handler in a closet or attic dripping onto the ceiling when its drain line clogs in July, and the humidity that pushes through the block all summer and wets the base of an exterior wall from behind. We repair the board and tell you which one you have.
Most Fort Lauderdale homes finished since the 1980s carry knockdown; the 1960s and 1970s houses in Coral Ridge and the western streets run an orange peel; the 1940s and 1950s block houses east of Federal Highway and the Sailboat Bend cottages often have plaster over the block or over lath, which is patched as plaster with a setting compound, not screwed shut with a drywall patch. Matching the finish is what makes a repair disappear, and our technicians test on a scrap board before they spray.
A stained ceiling is the last thing to show. The roofer, the plumber or the air conditioning company fixes the source, or the association deals with the unit above, and the board has to read dry on the meter before new drywall goes in; patch it wet and the ring comes back through the primer. Soft, sagging or dark drywall comes out, the framing or furring behind it is checked, new board goes up. A small dry spot of mildew we cut out and replace; anything larger is a licensed mold remediation company's job, and we say so on the call.
Smaller than your hand is a backed patch, bigger than your hand and smaller than a laptop is a paper patch, poster-sized gets a backer and a new section, and anything water has softened is a full sheet with every seam taped. On a block wall the backer is glued and screwed to the furring because there is no stud bay behind it, which is why the hardware-store kit falls in. Three coats, sanding, texture and primer are the same on all four.
Block houses from the 1940s to the 1960s on the canals, plaster or drywall over furring, and the high-rise and mid-rise condos along the beach and the Intracoastal. The damage is salt-air rust at the corner bead, the damp band at the base of a wall after a king tide, the ceiling under the unit above, and the window-frame stain after a storm. We dry it, replace the board, match the smooth or knockdown finish and leave it primed.
Frame cottages and early block houses near the river, some in the historic district, with plaster walls and seventy years of patches. Plaster cracks along the lath and goes hollow where the keys broke; the 1950s drywall additions carry a different texture from the original rooms. We patch plaster as plaster and drywall as drywall, and an older sprayed ceiling is tested by a licensed lab before anyone disturbs it.
Block ranch homes from the 1950s through the 1980s, orange peel and knockdown, with the air handler in a hall closet or the garage and the ceiling stain under it when the drain line clogs. Settling cracks are rare; the cracks follow the furring seams and the tape at the ceiling line. Many streets are associations, so the repair leaves primed for the scheme color.
Hold your hand over the damage and tell us: smaller than your hand, bigger than your hand, poster-sized, or a whole sheet. We price it on the call, in writing, in under ten minutes.
Water damage is repaired after the source is fixed. If the stain is still wet we tell you who fixes the leak, and we schedule the drywall for when it is dry.
Backing where it needs it, new board cut to fit, every seam taped, three coats of compound sanded smooth, your texture matched, then primer.
Dust contained and the room left clean. Most patches are finished in one visit; a full sheet may need a short second visit for the final coat, scheduled before we leave.
Florida's building code has no list of exempt finish work the way other states' codes do; it leaves ordinary minor repairs to the building official, and Broward's amendment lets general maintenance and repairs under a set cost go ahead without a permit. Since July 2026 the state also requires Fort Lauderdale to exempt cosmetic work on a single-family home under a set value on request, and the city's own list of examples names drywall repair or finishing; the request goes through LauderBuild and the Building Official answers in writing before work starts, never for a lot in a flood hazard area. A patch or a replaced sheet in an existing wall is that kind of work; a new opening, a removed wall or anything structural is a permit, and we say which before anyone opens a wall.
A burst supply line or a storm that gets under the roof is usually a covered loss; the band of damp that has been wicking through a block wall for years usually is not, and rising water is a flood policy, not the homeowner policy. Photograph the stain and the source the day you find it, keep the roofer's or plumber's invoice, and expect the adjuster to ask when it started and whether a named storm was involved. We do not fix the leak; the source is repaired first, the board dries and meters dry, then we replace the drywall, and our scope is written on its own line so it reads cleanly beside theirs.
In a stacked building the leak upstairs and the ceiling downstairs belong to different people. Florida's condominium statute puts the drywall itself on the association's property policy and leaves the paint, wallpaper and other coverings to the owner, and the declaration decides the rest, including who pays when the shower pan two floors up failed. Tell the association in writing the day the ring appears. We repair the drywall on your side once the source is fixed and the board is dry, and write the scope as its own line so the board and the adjusters can read it.

Yes. Block walls carry drywall on furring strips with less than an inch behind them, so the hardware-store patch kit has nothing to grab. We glue and screw a backer to the furring, fit new board, tape the seams, three coats, texture and primer, and the hole is gone.
The roofer finds where the water got in and fixes it first. Once the ceiling reads dry on the meter we cut out the stained section, check the framing above, hang new board, tape, finish, texture and prime. Painted over wet, the ring is back in a month.
Who pays is a declaration and insurance question: the statute puts the drywall on the association's policy and the paint on yours, and the documents decide the rest. We repair the ceiling or wall on your side after the source is fixed and the board is dry, and write the scope as its own line for the board and the adjusters.
Yes. Knockdown is the texture on most Fort Lauderdale walls from the 1980s on, and it is matched by spraying the right splatter, waiting the right number of minutes and knocking it down with the same knife width the original finisher used. We test on a scrap board first, every time.
Four things you can measure yourself: whether the damage is smaller than your hand, bigger than your hand, poster-sized or a whole sheet; whether water is involved; the texture to match; and the ceiling height. Say which on the call and the price is in writing in under ten minutes.
Not for a patch, a replaced sheet in an existing wall or a ceiling repair: Florida leaves ordinary minor repairs to the building official, Broward exempts small general maintenance, and the city's new state exemption for small single-family jobs names drywall repair among its examples, on request. New openings, removed walls or framing are a permit, and we say so first.
