THE SHORT ANSWER

A loose handrail is not a minor maintenance item, it is a fall hazard that puts every person who uses the stair at risk, and in a home with elderly residents or young children, that risk is acute. Our handyman construction specialists repair and install handrails and stair systems on exterior and interior stairs, bringing loose posts back to structural rigidity, replacing damaged components, and installing new handrail systems that meet code requirements for height, graspability, and continuous run.

Professional Handrail & Stair Services Nationwide

Professional Solutions

Handrail and stair repairs are among the most safety-critical handyman jobs, a railing that feels solid to a standing adult pulling lightly will move under the sudden lateral force of someone using it to stop a fall. The difference between a railing that is merely attached to the deck surface and one that is fastened into the framing below is the difference between a railing that holds and one that comes out of the decking when it is most needed. Kaminskiy Care and Repair’s handyman construction specialists anchor posts into the structural framing, not the decking surface, and test every repaired railing under load before leaving. With crews across the United States, a safe, secure handrail is a call away.

Why Choose Kaminskiy for Handrail & Stair Repair

A railing post bolted only through the decking will work loose as the decking moves seasonally. Posts must be anchored into the structural framing below, joist, rim joist, or stringer, to hold under load. Our handyman construction crews anchor into structure and load-test every railing before leaving.

Posts Anchored into Framing:

Railing posts are fastened into the structural framing below the decking, not just through the decking surface, using through-bolts or structural post bases rated for the application.

Load-Tested Before Sign-Off:

Every railing repair is load-tested by applying lateral force before the job is signed off, the test that confirms the repair will hold under real-world use.

Code Height Verified:

Handrail height is verified at 34–38 inches above the stair nosing for stairs and 36–42 inches above the deck surface for guardrails, the range required by residential building code.

1-Year Warranty:

We stand behind our handrail and stair repair workmanship.

Signs Your Handrail or Stairs Need Attention

THE DECK & BALCONY GUIDE

Know your deck before
you call anyone

Why decks go soft

Decks live outside with no roof, so water finds every unsealed board, post and connection. Boards cup and crack, fasteners back out, and the spots that stay damp go soft. Caught early, that is a board and hardware fix, not a rebuild.

The railing test

Lean on your railing. If it moves, it is not a cosmetic problem, it is a safety problem, and it usually means loose or corroded connections at the posts. We rebuild the connection to hold the load, not just tighten the screw.

Balconies and SB 721

California law requires inspection of elevated balconies and walkways on many multi-unit buildings. We do the repairs those inspections call out, to the standard the re-inspection expects. Owners and property managers get documentation for the file.

Keep it solid

Sweep debris out of the board gaps so water drains, and reseal or stain every few years before the wood goes gray. Walk the deck each spring and mark anything that flexes. One soft board found early is one visit. A soft frame found late is a project.
