Lake Worth Beach has the oldest doors in the county: 1920s and 1930s wood doors on the bungalows and Mission cottages, with the original hardware, frames the termites have hollowed and sills that rot a few blocks from the lagoon, plus the jalousie and French doors of the midcentury houses west of Dixie. We plane and rehang the originals, rebuild the frame and the sill in the same wood, restore or match the hardware, and keep the repair to what a historic district allows without a review.

Wood bungalows and Mission and Mediterranean houses from the 1920s to the 1940s a few blocks from the water, many in the city's historic districts, and some lived in only for the winter. Salt air lifts the paint, the siding and the sills go first on the water side, the porches rot at the post bases, and the original doors bind in frames the termites found. We match the siding profile, rebuild the sills and the posts and keep the repair inside what a historic district allows without a review.
Bungalows on 25- and 50-foot lots with alleys behind them, original wood windows, trim and porches, and garages and cottages at the alley. The alley side gets the least attention and the most rot: fascia behind a gutter nobody cleans, a back door jamb on the slab, garage trim at the ground, a gate that drags. We rebuild the alley side as carefully as the street side.
Midcentury block houses toward I-95 with wood fascia, jalousie and French doors and fewer historic rules. The gutters overflow and the fascia rots behind them, jalousie doors stop sealing, French pairs go out of line, and the sprinkler keeps the jamb bottoms wet for the termites. We rebuild the boards, realign the pairs and fix the gutter end or the sprinkler head that caused it.
Because so much of the city is wood, and a hundred years old. The bungalows were built of pine before concrete block took over, the lagoon keeps the air salty and wet, the rain from May to October never lets a sill or a porch post dry, and two kinds of termite have had a century to find the frames. Old wood repairs well when it is caught early, and most of what we fix here waited a few seasons.
Doors, siding, porches, trim, plaster patches, drywall, fences, rot, caulk, screens and the small list are handyman work. Florida reserves electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and roofing for state-licensed contractors, and anything that holds the house up is an engineer's call, so we say so on the call and tell you who to call. The licensed pest company treats the termites; we rebuild what they ate.
Describe the job or text a photo and most Lake Worth Beach repairs are priced on the call, in writing, before anything goes on the calendar. A run of siding, a rebuilt frame or a porch gets a look first and a written scope. You approve, then we start.
A 1920s door is better wood than anything at the store, and in College Park or Old Lucerne it is also the simplest path through the historic rules. We plane the edges, rebuild the frame and the sill in the same species and profile, reset the old hinges and strike or match the hardware, and reseal it against the rain, so the door closes and locks the way it did the year the house was built.
The sticking door, the drywall hole, the gate that drags. Call or text it over and we price it on the call, in writing.
Hinges, strikes, weatherstrip, anchors, compound, fasteners and the common parts ride on the truck, so one visit usually clears the list.
Anything that needs opening a wall, rebuilding a frame or matching a finish gets a look and a written price before we start.
We tidy up, walk you through what was done, and the one-year workmanship warranty is in writing.
There is no handyman license in Florida. State law calls anyone paid to repair or improve a structure a contractor, exempts only casual, minor work under a set small amount, and keeps structural work, roofing, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical for state-licensed contractors, with the county certifying the specialty trades. Kaminskiy Care and Repair is bonded and insured, its technicians Kaminskiy-certified and background checked; we work the carpentry, siding, doors, porches, drywall, rot and finish side of your list and send the licensed trades to the right license.
Lake Worth Beach publishes its own permit exceptions, and they fit handyman work well: soffit and fascia can be repaired or replaced up to a quarter of the total without a permit, a previously permitted wood deck can have up to a hundred square feet of boards replaced as long as no framing is touched, stucco can be repaired and an interior door replaced. Beyond those lines, and for siding, an exterior door or any rebuild into framing, the city wants a permit, and inside a historic district the permit comes with a Certificate of Appropriateness. We tell you on the call which side your job falls on, and we do not promise the 2026 state exemption.
College Park, Old Lucerne and the other local districts review changes to the outside of a house with a Certificate of Appropriateness, but the city code exempts minor repairs that keep the house looking the way it does: a sill rebuilt in the same profile, siding matched course for course, a porch post turned to the old pattern. A new door or a changed trim profile is a review, and we put the materials and profile in writing for it. A replacement exterior door is also permitted work in the wind-borne debris region, with a Florida or Miami-Dade product approval and impact-rated or shuttered glass, so on an old house we check both the district and the approval before you order.
Ten minutes north of our office. Your Lake Worth Beach crew dispatches from our Boynton Beach office on Corporate Drive, ten minutes down I-95 or Dixie, which is why a call here is usually on the calendar within days. Call 561-220-5884, text a photo, or send the form. The south county is on our Boynton Beach handyman page.

Yes, and we would rather. The door is planed and rehung, the frame and sill rebuilt in the same wood and profile, the old hinges and strike reset or the hardware matched, and the whole thing resealed, which is also the simplest path through the historic district rules.

The city's own exceptions cover a lot of a handyman list: soffit and fascia up to a quarter of the total, up to a hundred square feet of deck boards on a permitted deck, stucco repair, an interior door. Siding, an exterior door or anything into framing takes a permit, and in a historic district a Certificate of Appropriateness with it; we tell you which on the call.
For a minor repair that keeps the house looking the way it does, yes: the code exempts it. A sill in the same profile, siding matched course for course, a porch post turned to the old pattern. A new door or a changed trim profile is a review, and we put the materials and profile in writing for it.
