Newport Beach opens to the water through French doors and wide sliders, and the harbor pays them back: salt seizes the hinges and deadbolts, the damp swells the wood, the wind sags the heavy ones and sand fills the tracks. We rehang and seal, fit stainless hardware, re-roller the sliders, rebuild the jamb and install the door you bought, matched to the association on the Coast.

THE LISTALL DONEAll of it is routine for a Kaminskiy-certified technician who carries stainless hardware and plans the walk from the truck on the islands. One call, one list.

We answer in under three rings and get you priced and scheduled in minutes.

A clear, written quote with upfront pricing. You approve before work begins.

Kaminskiy-certified pros finish the job with a workmanship warranty.
Every job is backed in writing by our workmanship warranty and done by a Kaminskiy-certified, background checked technician.
Cottages and bay-front homes with wood siding, sashes, redwood trim, decks at the water and doors that open to it. Salt and damp seize the hardware, swell the doors and soften the sills and bottom siding courses; many are second homes and summer rentals. We fit stainless, seal the end grain, rebuild the sills and plan the walk from the truck where there is no driveway.
Homes from the 1950s to the 1970s with original wood doors, plaster walls, open-beam patio covers and fascia watered by sprinklers for fifty years. Doors bind in settled frames, beam ends go soft, the garage jamb crumbles at the slab, and a lot of these homes are changing hands. We keep the original where it can be saved and clear the inspection list.
Newer stucco homes and condos on slope lots facing the ocean wind, with heavy entry doors, walls of glass doors, decks and long runs of fascia under tile roofs. Heavy doors sag on hinges too small for them, deck boards and railing posts rot on the ocean face, and the association standards and the balcony inspection law both apply. Parts of the Coast are in the very high fire hazard zone.
The water is on three sides. On the islands and the Peninsula the harbor damp sits in the air every night and the salt film eats paint and hardware; in Corona del Mar and on the Coast it is the onshore wind and the fog; on the bluffs it is fifty years of sprinklers on 1950s trim. The house is usually fine. The hardware, the wood edges and the deck boards are not.
Doors, hardware, sliders, trim, siding, decks, drywall, plaster patches, rot, caulk and fixtures are handyman work. A roof, an electrical panel, a re-pipe or anything that carries load over the water goes to the licensed specialty trade or the engineer, and we say so on the call. Termite treatment is the licensed pest company's; the rebuild is ours.
Most Newport Beach jobs are priced on the call, in writing, from your description or a photo, before anything is scheduled. A bay-front deck, a rebuilt frame or a bathroom refresh gets a look first and a written scope. A sill on Balboa Island with a walk from the truck and a sill on a bluff lot are priced as the different visits they are, and you see the number first.
A lot of Newport Beach is a second home, a summer rental or a house on a street with no driveway. We work from your photos and a lockbox, plan the island walk from the truck, send pictures when the list is done, and leave the house ready for the weekend you arrive, which is most of what a Peninsula owner asks of us.
We answer in under three rings and most repairs are priced on the call, in writing, before anything is booked.
The technician arrives with the hardware, patching and fastening stock the usual list needs, so the first visit is the working visit.
Rot, a frame rebuild, a slider swap or a bathroom item gets a look and a written scope. You approve before work begins.
Every job is backed by our one-year workmanship warranty, and the area is clean when we leave.
California allows a repair under a set small amount without a license when no permit is needed and nobody is employed; a door swap, a deck railing or a run of harbor rot crosses that line and wants a licensed contractor. Kaminskiy Care and Repair holds License #1106209, is bonded and insured, with Kaminskiy-certified, background-checked technicians, and puts every job over the state's written-contract threshold on paper before it starts.
Newport Beach builds to the California Residential Code, which asks for no application or notice for ordinary repairs and exempts painting, cabinets and similar finish work: a rehung door, a patched wall, a rebuilt sill, a run of siding. The city publishes no exempt-work handout of its own, but it does permit replacement windows and sliding doors and it permits deck dry rot repairs, so a new exterior door or a deck rebuild gets a call to the Building Division before the work, and we make it.
Much of the city sits in the coastal zone, which is about new development and views, not a rebuilt sill or a rehung door; we check before anything bigger than a repair. Parts of Newport Coast and Newport Ridge are in the very high fire hazard zone, where an exterior glazed door has to meet the wildfire rules, so we check the address before you buy one. Newport Coast, Crystal Cove, Harbor View Hills, Eastbluff and the island associations rarely need to approve a repair painted to match; a new door or color usually needs the form, and the condo associations carry the balcony inspection law.
Ten minutes up Jamboree. Your Newport Beach crew dispatches from our Orange County office on Michelson Drive in Irvine, ten minutes from the Back Bay, and carries stainless hardware for the islands. Call 714-844-1582, text a photo, or send the form. The whole county is on our Orange County handyman page.
Can't find your answer? Call 714-844-1582 and ask us anything.
Call 714-844-1582The office is ten minutes up Jamboree. We answer in under three rings, price most repairs on the call and usually schedule within days; on the islands the technician plans the walk from the truck. For a second home we work from your photos and a lockbox.
Describe the job or text a photo and the price comes on the call, in writing, before anything is booked. A bay-front deck, a rebuilt frame or a bathroom refresh gets a look first and a written scope. The access is in the price from the start, so there is no surprise at the house.
Yes. Send the photos, leave a lockbox, and one Kaminskiy-certified technician works through the list, sends pictures when it is done and leaves the house ready for the weekend you arrive.
Builder-grade brass and plated steel do not survive the harbor. We fit stainless or coated hinges, strikes, rollers and closers, seal the end grain on wood doors and trim, and tell you which finishes last within sight of the water.
Yes. Kaminskiy Care and Repair is a licensed California contractor (License #1106209), bonded and insured, and the technician who walks onto the island is Kaminskiy-certified and background checked, with a one-year workmanship warranty written into every job.
Not an ordinary repair or finish work: the state code the city builds to asks for no application for a rehung door, a patched wall or a rebuilt sill. A replacement window or sliding door and a deck rebuild are the ones the city permits, and the fire zone on the Coast adds a rule for exterior doors, so we call the Building Division before that work rather than guess.
