Mountain View has three kinds of door trouble: heavy 1920s bungalow doors near Castro Street that swell in the winter rain, Monta Loma Eichler sliders grinding on worn wheels, and ranch-house French doors in Cuesta Park and Waverly Park that rub in the middle. We plane and rehang the old ones, re-roller the sliders, true the frames and install the door you bought, one exit down from our office in Sunnyvale.

THE LISTALL DONEEvery one of these is a short visit for a Kaminskiy-certified technician who starts the day one exit away in Sunnyvale. One list, one call.

A clear, written quote with upfront pricing. You approve before work begins.

Kaminskiy-certified pros finish the job with a workmanship warranty.
Every job is backed in writing by our workmanship warranty and done by a Kaminskiy-certified, background checked technician.
Bungalows and cottages from the 1900s to the 1940s with heavy wood doors, wood siding, porches and plaster walls, some on the city's register of historic resources. Doors swell and frames settle, porch posts and sills rot close to the soil, plaster cracks reopen. We keep the original, splice new wood into old and check the register before the front changes.
Larger 1950s to 1970s ranch homes with redwood siding and stucco, French doors and sliders to the yard, decks and long fence lines under mature trees. Rollers, hinges, deck boards and railings, fascia where the sprinklers reach, and the clay-season crack over the door, patched and matched.
Eichlers with glass walls, flat roofs and radiant slabs, compact tract homes, and the newer townhome and condo communities near the campuses, most in associations and many rented. Eichler sliders on new wheels, a flush front door that keeps the look, hollow-core doors swapped for solid, and the turnover list between tenants.
Movement, in two senses. The valley clay swells in the wet winter and shrinks in the dry summer, so bungalow doors bind, French doors rub and the hairline over the window returns every August; the sprinklers and the shade of the big trees keep the sills and post bases wet for the subterranean termites. And people move: Mountain View turns over its houses and apartments faster than most places, so every year brings a move-in list and a move-out list on a house that is mostly past sixty.
Doors, sliders, drywall, plaster, trim, fences, decks, beam ends, rot, caulk and fixtures are handyman work. The roof, the electrical panel, a re-pipe, a gas line or anything that holds the house up goes to the licensed specialty trade, and we say so on the call. A seismic retrofit is the engineer's and the licensed contractor's; we do the finish work around it. Termite treatment belongs to the licensed pest company; the rebuild is ours.
Most Mountain View jobs are priced on the call, in writing, from a description or a photo, before anything is scheduled, and a move-in list can be priced from the inspection report before you have the keys. A rotted frame, a deck or a bath refresh gets a look first and a written scope. What you approve is what you pay.
A Mountain View purchase usually closes with an inspection report and a relocation clock. Send us the report and the list, fans, fixtures, shelving, the doors that do not latch, the holes the last pictures left, the slider, the grab bar, and we price it in writing and clear it the first week, with a lockbox if you are not in yet and photos when it is done. Landlords between tenants get the same list in reverse.
We answer in under three rings and most repairs are priced on the call, in writing, before anything is booked.
The technician arrives with the hardware, patching and fastening stock the usual list needs, so the first visit is the working visit.
Rot, a frame rebuild, a slider swap or a bathroom item gets a look and a written scope. You approve before work begins.
Every job is backed by our one-year workmanship warranty, and the area is clean when we leave.
California exempts a repair below a small set amount from the contractor license when no permit is needed and nobody is employed to do it, and the rest of the list wants a licensed contractor: the slider, the rotted sill, the deck railing, the door swap. Kaminskiy Care and Repair holds a California contractor license (License #1106209), is bonded and insured, with Kaminskiy-certified, background-checked technicians, and every job over the state's written-contract threshold goes on paper before the first visit.
Mountain View publishes its own page of projects that need no permit, built on the state codes: painting, papering, tiling, carpeting, cabinets, countertops and similar finish work (except as part of a kitchen or bathroom remodel, where a cabinet replacement does take a permit), wood fences to seven feet, a small detached deck, a shed to 120 square feet, stopping a leak or clearing a stoppage. The planning side exempts ordinary repairs and maintenance when the exterior repair uses the same materials and design as the original, and exterior paint on a single-family home or duplex needs no planning approval. The state code adds that an ordinary repair needs no application; cutting a structural beam or a load-bearing support, or enlarging an opening, is a permit, and we tell you on the call.
Mountain View rents more of its homes than most South Bay cities, and many of its older apartments sit under the city's rent stabilization program, which keeps habitability repairs on the owner's list; we work them between tenants with the manager's key and photos when done. Homes on the city's register of historic resources get a review before the front changes. Most single-family streets have no association; the townhome and condo communities do, and they approve exterior doors and colors, with the balcony inspection law putting the railing and board carpentry the report flags on our list.
One exit from our office. Your Mountain View crew dispatches from our South Bay office on Murphy Avenue in downtown Sunnyvale, one exit up the 85 or the 237, so a move-in list or a weekend list is usually on the calendar within days. Call 408-916-4022, text a photo, or send the form. The whole South Bay is on our San Jose handyman page.

Usually. Fans, fixtures, shelving, the mounting, the doors that do not latch, the holes from the last pictures and the slider go on one list, and one Kaminskiy-certified technician with a stocked truck works through it, with a lockbox if you are not in yet and photos when it is done.

Not finish work or ordinary repairs: the city's own page exempts painting, tiling, carpeting, cabinets and countertops outside a kitchen or bath remodel, wood fences to seven feet and a small detached deck, and the state code asks no application for a repaired sill, wall, trim run or door. A cabinet swap inside a kitchen or bath remodel, an enlarged opening or anything that cuts a structural member is a permit, and we tell you on the call.
Usually, yes. A sound wood door is planed, rehung and sealed, its frame rebuilt where it settled or rotted, and the old hardware kept where it fits. If the house is on the city's register of historic resources, a matching repair needs no review; a new front door does, and we tell you what it needs first.
