Lap siding rotting at the corner of a Flamingo Park frame house, drop siding gone soft under the jalousies of a Grandview Heights porch, cracked Hardie on a Palm Beach Gardens bump-out: rebuilt in the same profile, primed on every face and painted to the house.

Kaminskiy Care and Repair repairs and replaces siding and exterior wood across West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Wellington and Palm Beach County: the lap and drop siding of the 1920s frame houses in El Cid, Flamingo Park, Grandview Heights and Old Northwood, the exposed rafter tails and fascia on those same houses, the wood on enclosed porches and additions behind the block homes, and the fiber cement (Hardie) on the gated communities to the west and north. Heavy summer rain, the sun and termites decide where it fails. We rebuild it in the same profile, prime every face and paint it to the house. An EPA Lead-Safe Certified firm, priced in writing on the call: 561-220-5884.
The wood the boom years left behind.
West Palm Beach's land boom of the 1920s left whole streets of wood frame houses, and they fail at both ends of the wall. At the top, the exposed rafter tails and the fascia take the rain and the sun with no gutter to protect them. At the bottom, the lowest boards sit in the splash and the sprinkler spray. In between, drywood termites work the casings. We rebuild the rafter ends, the fascia and the siding in the same profile, and seal the end grain that let the water in.

Walk-Through & WarrantyWe take these calls across Palm Beach County every week, and more through the summer rains. A photo of the wall is usually enough to price the repair in writing on the call; when rafters, sills or wall framing may be involved, we look first and give you the written scope before anything is booked.

We name the siding, check whether the house is in a historic district, and price the repair in writing.

The damaged boards come off, the framing behind them is checked, and the profile is measured to match.

New siding, rafter ends and fascia in the same profile, every face primed, joints caulked, painted to the house.
Every job is backed in writing by our workmanship warranty and done by a Kaminskiy-certified, background checked technician.
The 1920s frame houses in El Cid, Flamingo Park, Grandview Heights and Old Northwood carry lap or drop siding, with exposed rafter tails at the eaves. Many midcentury block houses have a wood-clad porch enclosure or addition. Gated homes from the 1990s on in Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter and Wellington often carry fiber cement on a gable or bump-out. We name yours from a photo.
On a frame house without gutters the rafter ends take every storm, and their end grain soaks water like a straw. Once the paint opens, they rot from the tip back. A short rotted end can be spliced with a matching profile and epoxy; a rafter rotted past the wall line needs more than a splice, and we tell you which it is before we start.
Palm Beach County has the West Indian drywood termite in old wood and Formosan and Asian subterranean termites in the soil, with Asian colonies first found next door in Riviera Beach. The pest company treats and writes the report. On the Florida form, wood-decaying fungi count too, so rot shows up on it; we repair what it lists.
Turn sprinkler heads away from the walls, keep mulch and soil below the bottom board, repaint the rafter ends and fascia on a shorter cycle than the walls, recaulk window trim before the rainy season, and look at the sills for pellets every spring.
West Palm Beach built in wood during the land boom, switched to block after the 1928 hurricane, and spread west and north in stucco. The wood is concentrated on the oldest houses near the Intracoastal, and it shows up again on the porches, additions and bump-outs of everything that came after.
Frame Vernacular and Craftsman houses from the 1920s with lap and drop siding, exposed rafter tails and deep porches. The rafter ends and the lowest boards go first, and drywood termites take the casings. The city reviews exterior changes to designated houses, and a repair in the same wood and profile is the easy case. These houses predate 1978, so the paint is tested first and the work is done lead-safe by an EPA Lead-Safe Certified firm.
Block ranches from the 1950s and 1960s where the wood is the fascia, the enclosed porch with its jalousie windows, and the additions out back. The drop siding under the jalousies rots where the window weeps, and the fascia rots behind the gutter. We rebuild both and stop the water that caused it.
Gated communities from the 1990s on, stucco with fiber cement on gables and bump-outs and strict association schemes. Fiber cement cracks at nails and corners and the paint chalks in the sun. We replace the boards, seal the joints, match the association color and put the materials in writing for the form.
Nearly always. The wood that fails is at the top and the bottom of the wall and around the windows; the boards in between are often sound. We replace what failed, splice or replace the rafter ends, and match the profile. When the framing behind is soft, we show you and price it before going further.
The county chapter of the Florida Building Code lets the building official approve an ordinary minor repair without a permit when nothing cuts a wall, a structural beam or a load-bearing support, and painting needs none. Re-siding a wall is permitted work, and the siding has to carry a Florida product approval. We ask the Building Division which side your job is on.
We price it in writing from a photo before anything is scheduled. The siding, how many rafter ends or boards have failed, whether the profile is stocked or milled, and how much painting it takes to blend all move the number. No percentage markups.
Florida licenses contractors, not handymen. Paid repair of a structure counts as contracting unless it is casual, minor work under a set small amount, and structure, roofing and the licensed trades stay with state-licensed contractors. Kaminskiy Care and Repair is bonded and insured, and we tell you on the call which license your job needs.
We name the siding, check the historic map and any WDO report, and price the repair in writing.
The damaged boards, rafter ends and trim come off; the framing is checked and anything soft is cut back.
New siding and trim milled or stocked to the old profile, rafter ends spliced, every face primed, joints caulked.
Painted to the house, the site cleaned, and the photos and the one-year workmanship warranty sent.
West Palm Beach builds to the Florida Building Code under the county chapter, which asks for a permit to repair a structure but lets the building official approve an ordinary minor repair without one, so long as no wall, beam or load-bearing support is cut. Palm Beach County is in the wind-borne debris region, and siding installed on a re-sided wall must carry a Florida product approval. We confirm with the Building Division before we quote.
A West Palm Beach sale comes with a Wood-Destroying Organisms Inspection Report on the state form, from a licensed pest control company. It lists live termites, evidence and damage, and wood-decaying fungi count too. The form says plainly it is not a structural damage report: someone from the building trade has to open the wood to see how far it goes. The pest company treats; we rebuild the siding, rafters and trim on the list.
The city has eighteen locally designated historic districts; changes to the outside of a designated house get staff review, and a Certificate of Appropriateness when the look changes. Paint colors are not regulated, and a repair in the same wood and profile is the easy case. Homes built before 1978 may carry lead paint: Kaminskiy Care and Repair is an EPA Lead-Safe Certified firm, so the paint is tested and the work contained and cleaned to that standard.

Call 561-220-5884Most of it can be repaired. On Palm Beach houses the damage gathers at the eaves, at the lowest boards and around windows, and the rest of the wall is often sound. We replace the failed boards and rafter ends, check the framing, match the profile, and prime and paint. A wall is re-sided only when the damage runs across it.
Usually. When the rot is in the exposed end, we cut back to sound wood and splice on a new end milled to the original shape, or sister a new tail alongside; the fascia and the top course of siding are rebuilt with it. When the rot runs back past the wall line into the roof framing, that is roofing and structural work, and we say so before anything is opened.
We price it in writing from a photo before anything is scheduled. How many boards or rafter ends have failed, whether the profile is in stock or has to be milled, and how much painting it takes to blend all move the number. A few boards at a corner is a small line; a run of rafter tails with fascia is a larger one. No percentage markups.
An ordinary minor repair can be approved by the building official without a permit when no wall, beam or load-bearing support is cut, and painting needs none. Re-siding a wall is a permit, with a siding product that carries a Florida approval. We confirm with the Building Division before we quote.

Exterior changes to a designated house get staff review, and a Certificate of Appropriateness when the look changes; paint colors are not regulated. A repair in the same wood and the same profile is the simplest case. We give you the materials and profile in writing for the city when it asks.
Palm Beach gets about five feet of rain a year, most of it from June to October, under a sun strong enough to break down paint in a few seasons. Exposed rafter ends and the lowest boards soak it up through the end grain, and the termites find the soft wood. Priming every face, sealing the ends and repainting the exposed wood on a shorter cycle keep it sound.
