Most of Los Angeles was built between 1910 and 1965, which means plaster walls, oak under the carpet and kitchens that have been redone badly at least once. Kaminskiy Care and Repair does the next one properly: a kitchen or bathroom refresh with new fixtures installed behind the original walls of a Spanish house, plaster skimmed and the whole flat repainted, hardwood uncovered and refinished, a Westside duplex turned over between tenants, the carpentry a balcony inspection report lists for a Wilshire condo board. One written scope, one crew, from our office on Wilshire Boulevard. If the plan moves walls or plumbing it is a remodel, and we say so on the first call. Call 310-928-6211.
Refreshes and multi-day projects, priced in writing from Wilshire Boulevard.
A 1928 Hancock Park kitchen with its original layout and a 1986 makeover does not need a new footprint. It needs its counters, backsplash, hardware and lighting done right, with the plaster kept, and that is a refresh. Several rooms on one schedule make a project: the Mar Vista duplex turned over, the plaster through a Los Feliz house skimmed and painted, the hillside deck and railings rebuilt off the inspection report. Move a wall, a drain or the panel and it is a remodel for a licensed general contractor, and we tell you which yours is on the first call.
Each of those is a project Kaminskiy Care and Repair writes as one scope. Call 310-928-6211. One room is a matter of days; a multi-room project comes with a schedule you see before the first day.

We answer in under three rings and get you priced and scheduled in minutes.

A refresh keeps the layout and renews the surfaces, fixtures and finishes. A project strings rooms together or takes on a repair that runs past a few days: a duplex turnover, a house replastered and repainted, a balcony report cleared. A remodel moves walls, plumbing or electrical, and that one goes to a licensed general contractor we name on the call.
Labor and finishes, not the room's size. Leave the sink, the tub and the range where they are and there is no permit and no trade work, which is why a refresh of a kitchen costs a fraction of remodeling the same kitchen. The lines go on paper before anything is scheduled.
Repairs first, then plaster and paint, then floors, then fixtures and hardware, then trim. In a 1920s house the wall usually holds a surprise: galvanized pipe and old wiring, which the licensed plumber and electrician replace before we close anything, and settled framing, which is ours. The flooring is ordered after that, not before.
One room at a time, floors covered, dust walled off, tools out of the hall by evening. A turnover runs in an empty unit with the trades on consecutive days. In an occupied house you keep a sink and a working stove every night, and we park where the street can live with it.
1920s and 1930s Spanish, Tudor and Craftsman houses with plaster walls, original doors and hardwood under the carpet. A project here is a kitchen or bath brought up to date behind the original walls, plaster skimmed instead of torn out, floors uncovered and refinished. Hancock Park, Miracle Mile and Carthay Circle are historic overlay zones, so anything on the outside stays in kind.
Post-and-beam houses from the 1950s and 1960s with decks over the slope and views worth the stairs. Projects are the kitchen and baths refreshed in the footprint, the deck and railings rebuilt, interiors repainted after the hill moved the plaster again. The whole zone is very high fire hazard, so an exterior door or vent is checked against the wildfire standard before it is ordered.
Mid-century tracts, bungalows and the duplexes and fourplexes that turn over tenant by tenant. The projects are turnovers priced as one list, kitchens and baths refreshed with hardware that lasts in the marine layer, and the condo buildings along Wilshire and in Brentwood with a balcony report to clear for the board.
A new floor plan, a wall opened, a kitchen moved across the house, an addition or an accessory dwelling unit belongs to a licensed general contractor who designs and builds it. Tell us the plan on the first call and we say which kind of job it is before we hang up, so you are not paying two companies to decide.
California requires inspections of decks, balconies, stairs and walkways on apartment buildings with three or more units, and condominium associations have their own version. A licensed inspector or engineer writes the report. The joists, railings, boards and waterproofing it names are our carpentry, permitted through LADBS and documented for the board.
A Palms duplex or a Mid-City fourplex empties with cracked plaster, a tired kitchen and carpet over the oak. We walk it the day it is handed back, price every item in writing, and run paint, floors, fixtures and hardware on consecutive days so it lists within the week. One vendor, one invoice, every room photographed.
A Hancock Park Spanish or a Larchmont Craftsman wants the same plaster, the same trim profile and the same hardware when something comes out, and the overlay zone wants it on the street face. We skim instead of demolishing, copy the milled trim, plane and rehang original doors, and refinish oak that has been under carpet since 1965.
Tell us what you want to change. Small refreshes are priced on the call. A multi-room project gets a walk-through from our Wilshire Boulevard office within days.
Every room, every item, every finish on paper. You pick the fixtures, tile and colors, or we bring options. Nothing is ordered until you sign off.
Repairs first, then paint, floors, fixtures, trim. The same technicians through the whole Los Angeles job, and a licensed trade brought in for the wiring or plumbing when the scope needs one.
We walk every room with you, leave the house clean, and every item carries our one-year workmanship warranty, on paper.
California lets anyone take a repair job under a set small amount without a license, as long as it needs no permit. A renovation project crosses that line on the first day. Kaminskiy Care and Repair holds a California contractor license (License #1106209), carries the insurance, and puts every project on a written home improvement contract before it starts, with the scope, the schedule and the price on it, which the state requires of any job that size.
The City of Los Angeles reads the rule tightly. LADBS needs no permit for painting, papering and similar finish work, and treats cabinets, counters, flooring and a fixture replaced in the same place as the same kind of work. A permit starts when plumbing or wiring moves, a wall comes out or an opening changes, and a same-size door change-out is an express permit over the counter. Balcony and stair repairs are permitted work. We tell you which on the walk-through and pull the permit as part of the job.
In an HPOZ such as Hancock Park or Miracle Mile the outside goes through the zone's board and the inside does not, so a refresh is yours to decide and a new front door is not. The hillside streets have been a very high fire hazard zone since 1999, so an exterior door or vent there is checked against the wildfire standard before you buy it. The condo buildings along Wilshire and on the Westside carry California's balcony inspection law, and once the report names a railing or a joist that repair is on a clock.
Run from Wilshire Boulevard. The Los Angeles crews work out of the Beverly Hills office at 8383 Wilshire Boulevard and cover the flats, the hillside streets and the Westside from there. Since 2023 that has meant 494 repair visits on 287 Los Angeles homes. Call 310-928-6211 with the rooms or the photos. The whole county is on our Los Angeles handyman page.

Call 310-928-6211Ask whether anything moves. Counters, a vanity, floors, paint, plaster and hardware in the layout you have is a renovation. Walls, plumbing or wiring moving is a remodel. A Los Angeles kitchen that works but looks forty years old wants the first, at a fraction of the cost; a kitchen you want elsewhere wants the second, and we name a licensed general contractor on the call.
The finishes you choose and the labor the room needs set it, not its size, so we do not price by the square foot. One room is usually priced from photos and a short call. Several rooms get a walk-through from Wilshire and a written scope listing every item, approved by you before anything is ordered. Call 310-928-6211 to begin.
Yes. Paint, plaster, floors, fixtures, trim, doors, cabinets and the repairs behind them are trades we carry, so one crew works the list in order on one schedule. When a scope needs a licensed electrician or plumber we bring them in on the right day and coordinate it, and you still make one call.
Rarely. Painting and finish work, cabinets, counters, flooring and a fixture replaced in the same place need no permit. The permit starts when plumbing or wiring moves, a wall comes out or an opening changes, and for balcony and stair repairs. We tell you on the walk-through and pull it as part of the job.
Almost always. Houses in the flats and on the Westside built before 1960 usually have oak under the carpet. Once the carpet, pad and tack strip are up we can tell you its condition; boards are patched where a wall or vent was moved, then the floor is sanded, stained if you like, and finished, before the fixtures go in. It is written into the scope.
The licensed inspector or engineer writes the report, as the law requires. Kaminskiy Care and Repair rebuilds the railings, boards, joists and waterproofing it lists, permitted through LADBS and documented for the board. Send the report and we price from it.
